In 1991, Mt. Pinatubo erupted after centuries of dormancy, leaving behind a 2km caldera, which eventually formed into a lake.
The journey to Pinatubo Lake kicks off at the Capas starting point. Getting through the slithering, lahar sprawling landscape requires a 4×4 vehicle. It begins with an hour-long, 20 kilometer rolling and lurching drive, followed by an easy 15-20 minute hike. Once you get up to the top, the view of the crater lake is nothing short of spectacular.
