This is an old prison in the former DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik) also informally known as East Germany. The first image show how it was before and the second image shows how it is today. Before becoming a prison in 1747 the building functioned as an abbey.
East and West Germany were reunited on October 3, 1990 as the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundesrepublik Deutschland).
