Submission Guidelines

Image Specifics

Resize your image so it measures 700 pixels along the longest side. Here is a size guide for the two most common aspect ratios (width x height):

3:2 – 700 x 467 pixels
4:3 – 700 x 525 pixels

If you have cropped your image to a custom aspect ratio, then simply resize your image to measure 700 pixels along the longest edge.

Please save your image as a high quality JPG or JPEG  file in the sRGB colour space and ensure your image file is not larger than 500kb. Files that are bigger than 500kb will be rejected by the form on our Submit page.

Please do not include any watermarks, logos, signatures or other graphics or copy in your pictures. Images which displays any of these characteristics will not be accepted for publication.

Your Picture

We are looking for pictures from your top drawer.

It doesn’t matter if it’s an old favourite or a recent winner shot, so long as it’s a jewel from your crown.

We are looking for well-crafted, engaging, beautiful, thought-provoking, exquisite, poignant and creative pictures that fit into one of our 12 photo categories.

While we accept multiple submissions from photographers keep in mind Ansel Adam’s famous words: “Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop.” Only submit your best work.

And while we’re on the subject of Ansel Adam’s quotes Ansel also said: “There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs.”

Your 140 Words Story

Your image submission should be accompanied by a short background story of no more than 140 words and no less than 40 words. We don’t accept submissions with just captions like ‘Buddhist Monk in Thailand’ or ‘Sydney Opera House, Australia’.

We are looking for short, interesting, funny, creative, emotional, exciting, heart warming or creative background stories to accompany your image.

If you’re stuck for ideas on what or how to write your story you can find some inspiration on our Writing Ideas page.

How to Submit

You can submit your picture and story either via email or via our dedicated submission form.

Please visit the Submit page for details.

Important Release Information

Please note that by submitting your image to the QwertyPics you automatically release your image for publication on the www.qwertypics.com website.

If published, you understand that your image will be displayed on the website indefinitely accompanied by your background story and a link back to your website or online portfolio. You also understand that the display of your image on the website may include your image being featured in one of the photo categories.

Your image will not be used on the website for any other purposes without your explicit permission and you maintain full ownership and copyright to your image.

Published or Not Published

Please note that all submissions will be considered for publication, but the decision to publish your picture is entirely at QwertyPics’ discretion.

QwertyPics’ philosophy is to showcase quality over quantity. We want to showcase the best of all the images that’s brought in front of us and as such we only publish images which we deem to meet certain visual, creative and technical criteria.

The process of assessing your image for publication is of course highly subjective and therefore you should not be discouraged just because an image you have submitted don’t get published. Try again with another image at a later stage. Please note, though, that we don’t enter into correspondence about decisions to publish or not to publish individual images.

If approved for publication your picture and story are usually published within 7 days of submission (often much faster than this).

If your image does not appear on the website within 7 days of your submission, it is usally because it has been rejected for publication on the site.

Unfortunately we don’t have the ressources to advise individual photographers about whether their picture has been published or not, so please use the above time frame above as a guideline.
